Home truths
Location-Specific Details: You're on the main Highway 50 corridor, so expect some road noise but excellent access to everything Heavenly Village and gondola are about 10-15 minutes east - easy ski access without being in the expensive village core Stateline casinos (Harrah's, Harvey's) are roughly 15 minutes away for entertainment You're positioned between South Lake Tahoe's two main commercial areas - convenient but not walkable to either What Guests Actually Experience: Altitude adjustment is real at 6,200+ feet - expect headaches, fatigue, and increased alcohol effects for the first 1-2 days Mountain cell service can be spotty in parts of the house - WiFi becomes critical for communication. The house stays naturally cooler in summer (mountain blessing) but can feel quite cold in winter mornings before heating kicks in Practical Realities for Renters: Parking for 6-8 cars typically, but snow can reduce usable spaces significantly Kitchen supplies need to account for high-altitude cooking (water boils at lower temp, baking adjustments needed) Trash and recycling rules are strict in Tahoe - violations can result in fines that get passed along Seasonal Logistics: Winter: 4WD/AWD with chains required by law; keep backup food as storms can trap you for days Summer: AC isn't always standard in Tahoe homes since nights cool naturally Year-round: Bears are active - all food/toiletries must be stored properly or expect property damage

Additional rulesWelcome & House Rules We’re so glad you’ve chosen our home for your stay in South Lake Tahoe! To keep things safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for everyone, we ask that you follow the county laws and a few simple house rules. These are standard in the area and help protect both our guests and the beautiful Tahoe environment. The vast majority of our guests have no issues at all — but every once in a while, we do get a rowdy group. We always do our best to communicate with you before anything becomes a problem, so please keep your booking phone handy during your stay. If you have any questions or concerns, just send us a message. Thanks for your understanding 🙂 COUNTY LAWS & HOUSE RULES Quiet Hours: 10pm–8am (countywide rule). Please help us respect the neighbors and Tahoe’s peaceful setting. Trash: All trash must go into the bear box — never left outside. It’s for your safety and to protect wildlife. Guests & Parties: Only registered guests are allowed. No parties, please. Shoes: Kindly remove shoes inside to help protect the wood floors and carpet. Smoking: No smoking on the property, and especially no flicking cigarette butts (fire danger is very high here). Fires: No open flames, fireworks, or bonfires — Tahoe has strict fire safety rules. Fireplace: For warmth only — please don’t cook on it or place items on its surfaces. Noise: No yelling, loud music, or disturbances. Let’s keep Tahoe’s wilderness quiet and peaceful. Pets: Sorry, no pets. Verified service animals are welcome on a case-by-case basis — just reach out first. Damage: Please let us know right away if something breaks or gets damaged so we can take care of it. Treat the home as your own, and everything will be fine. Security: We record a video of the home’s condition (inside and out) prior to each stay for documentation. Exterior cameras are in place for safety — tampering with or disconnecting them will result in immediate eviction. WINTER TRAVEL ADVISORY Tahoe winters are beautiful but can also be extreme. A typical storm may bring 1–3 feet of snow in just 24 hours. Please keep the following in mind: Roads and driveways are plowed once snow reaches 6 inches. If less has fallen or you arrive during an active storm, you’ll encounter snow on the road and driveway. Street parking is not allowed in winter, so you’ll need to drive over the snow. A 4WD vehicle with snow tires and chains is strongly recommended (and sometimes required). Even with 2WD, chains are mandatory and conditions can still be challenging. Always bring chains, regardless of your vehicle type. Tahoe roads can be steep and icy, even when it’s not snowing. Power outages happen from time to time during storms, so please be prepared.
